







A ceremony to donate and send 500 metric tons (10,000 bags) of rice from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the people of Sri Lanka affected by cyclone was held at the meeting hall of the Asia World Port Terminal in Ahlon Township, Yangon Port, on January 13. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and responsible officials attended.
First, the Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Dr. Than Soe, delivered the opening speech.
Afterwards, Chairman of the Myanmar Rice Federation, U Ye Min Aung, explained the plans and preparation status for the rice shipment.
Subsequently, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Myanmar, Mrs. Prabashini Ponnamperuma, delivered words of gratitude.
Following this, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein presented the documents for donating and sending 500 metric tons (10,000 bags) of rice, which were received by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Myanmar.
Afterwards, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and officials inspected the containers that will carry the 500 metric tons (10,000 bags) of rice.
