Due to the heavy rain, the water level of Ayeyawady River has been surged every year, leading to inundation in Kachin State, with record flood occurred in 2024.

The State Disaster Management Committee is carrying out the preparation measures for disaster response and rescue works. On Saturday, flood prevention drill was organized at four designated places in Myitkyina.

Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan oversaw the activities held at Sitarpu Bridge, Kyun Pin Thar Jetty, Aung Bridge and Manaw Upein Bridge. Members of Fire Brigade, departmental personnel and civil social organizations participated in the drill, along with the machinery, vehicles and rescue equipment.
