Disaster Drill: Raising awareness on natural disaster in Rakhine State

Disaster drills are underway in the heavy rain-hit areas to save lives.

In Rakhine State, with the cooperation of Fire Services Department and Department of Disaster Management, the Disaster Awareness Programme and Drill on flood risk was conducted to the students at the Sub-basic Education High School and No. 3 Basic Education Middle School in Buthidaung Township of Maungdaw District.

The officials from the Fire Services Department (Buthidaung) conducted about the situation of firefighters’ assistance in case of natural disasters, tips to follow notices in case of storms and the precautions to follow regarding flood hazards and demonstrated how to wear life jackets.

Also, information of natural disasters and disaster awareness pamphlets were distributed to the students. The Drill continued with the emergency rescue personnel from the Buthidaung Fire Services Department holding practical demonstration concerning with the natural disaster.
