Digital Myanmar : 2-day event at Yadanapon Cyber City

Digital Myanmar Forum and Exhibition was held at Yadanapon Teleport in Pyin Oo Lwin on Friday, Acting President, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the opening ceremony and inaugurated the event.

In his speech, the Acting President stressed the need to promote digital infrastructures in Yadanapon New City, while drafting the necessary laws and regulations to attract investments for long term development. He pointed out the favourable location for IT businesses, in addition to the adequate human resources needed for the industry.

He emphasized the need for reasonable internet access for everyone, including women, youths, elders and persons with disabilites, while creating safe and secure environ, ensuring cyber security and combating online scams.

He also highlighted the Cyberspace Sovereignty through the enactment of policies, laws and regulations to overcome the challenges. With the theme "Digital Myanmar: Shaping Myanmar’s Digital Future in the Age of AI", the Digital Myanmar Forum and Exhibition is set to be held of two days on February 27 and 28, featuring booths from local and international ICT companies.

The event aims to accelerate the digital transformation in public service sector including the government administrative mechanism, to promote cyber technology knowledge, to enhance digital capabilities of business, to create a network between the technological experts and work places and to build a technological eco-system.

Established in June 2006, the Yandanapon New City or Yadanapon Cyber City, also known as the Silicon Valley of Myanmar, is the very first and largest ICT hub in the country. It was officially opened in December 2007, and invited international ICT companies to develop Myanmar's ICT setor, while creating employment opportunities and promoting research and innovation works.

The Yadanapon Teleport has established a major internet and communications service center of Myanmar, providing office spaces for Startups, Incubation Centers, education zone, High-Tech Zone and Soft-based Factory Zone.
