Launching ceremony of the Myanmar Disaster Alert (MDA) Mobile Appdrafted by the Department of Disaster Management was held in conjuction with a ceremony to present the results of capacity enchanment and management workshop on Thursday.
At the event, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine said that if a disaster is happened, the people in this area are the first ones who respond the disaster risk. That’s why, they are needed to raise knowledge and awareness of every disaster.
The MDA mobile app is aimed to send early warnings issued by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology to people on time and to inform the possible risks by easiest method to minize the damages.The pamphlets and video files on do’s and don’ts to study the nine natural diasters which mosty occur in Myanmar are put in the app.
The Union Minister called for systematic plans for purchasing aids, storing in the warehouses and distribution, conducting awareness on disaster risk management and drills and working together for achieving the tasks of the Minsitry. After that, heads of relevant regions and states reported on drafting MDA mobile app, usage and the results of group-wise discussion at the workshop on whihc the Union Minister, the permanent secretary and the Director General gave suggestions.
