Development Works: Shan State Chief Minister makes inspection tour

Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, accompanied by concerned officials conducted a field inspection to the Upper Kengtawng Hydropower Plant in Namtsam District of Shan State (South) on May 16.

During the inspection, they reviewed project reports and progress on preparation work, river diversion, dam and spillway construction, tunnel and pipe work, power plant construction and factory drainage concreting. They then toured the project site which is completed 90.46% and scheduled to be operational by March 2027.

The Chief Minister and party later met with the township-level departmental officials and town elders at the Kengtawng General Administration Department. They heard reports on the region’s conditions and needs, followed by the presentation of cash prizes to township departmental personnel.

Next, they inspected the road and bridge works on the Meiktila–Taunggyi–Keng Tung–Tachileik road in Loilem Township. The Chief Minister called for inspection of water outlets during the monsoon season. They also inspected iron net installation, earth retaining walls and road expansion at the water outlet in Pa-O Self-Administered Zone in Hopone Township.
