





Marking the 75th Anniversary of Myanmar-China Diplomatic Relations, a ceremony to handover a Myanmar Film “Thu Chit” to the Ministry of Information was held at Myanma Radio and Television in Yangon on 1st March.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Dr Zheng Zhihong, the Chairman of Myanmar Motion Picture Organization and invited guests.
After presenting a brief on “Thu Chit” Film, the Union Minister made a speech. In his speech, the Union Minister highlighted the power of motion picture industry and its influence in bridging nations and people regardless of differences in culture, background and languages.
The Union Minister expressed his hope that the existing friendly relations between China and Myanmar will be strengthened through cooperation in motion picture sector.
Next, the Chinese Minister Counsellor handed over 2 pairs of Hard Disk of “Thu Chit” Film and made clarification on the purpose of the ceremony. It was followed by screening of “Thu Chit” Film.
Directed by Director U Chan Tun, “Thu Chit” Film was produced by British Burma Production in 1951. Actor A One Nyunt Maung and actress May Myint starred in the film. “Thu Chit” film was one of the famous films of Director U Chan Tun which excellently portrays the life and viability of farmers.
In 1955, the People’s Republic of China bought “Thu Chit” Film with 2,500 sterling pound and screened the Chinese dubbed version of the “Thu Chit” Film at Asia Film Festival held in Beijing in 1957 which gained a lot of admiration.
At present, “Thu Chit” Film is upgraded into Digital Format in conformity with the changing trend of age and will be aired on channels under Myanma Radio and Television occasionally.
