COVID-19 Response: Meeting On COVID-19 Control And Emergency Response

Shan State COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee organized a meeting at the State Government office in Taunggyi, Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the Committee, Shan State Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Tun said that aaccording to the latest findings on the COVID-19 infection in Shan State from 1st to 31st January 2022, 1,356 people were infected and from February 1st  to 18th February, 1,137 people were found with positive cases and the percentage of infection rate has not declined yet.

He stressed on supervising the control of the infection of omicron variant and promptly responds. As of 18th February 2022, over 2.1 million people have been vaccinated once and more than 1.79 million people twice. The vaccination coverage for once time is 63% and the completion of vaccination for twice has achieved 53%.

There are 61,792 people who are eligible for booster dose and among them, 6,699 people have been injected and its coverage is 10.8 percent. Later, the Deputy Commander of Eastern Command, the State Security and Border Affairs Minister, the State Social Affairs Minister and the secretary of the State Government clarified COVID-19 disease. Attendees also reported their sector-wise measures on which the Chief Minister fulfilled the needs.
