



The Ministry of Health is stepping up the COVID-19 disease monitoring and control activities, so also, disease prevention, control and treatment activities. Since the country has reported the detection of Omicron variant, the activities have been accelerating with the cooperation of social organizations.
At the COVID-19 Treatment Centre in Thuwunna, Oat Ta Chat Thae Ta Pwint Foundation is making preparation measures for the possibilities of the spread of Omicron variant.
In-charge Doctor, COVID-19 Treatment Centre (Thuwunna), Dr Naing Lin Tun said “Since the third wave of COVID-19, we made efforts for providing quality health care services to the COVID positive patients. We are now closely supervising the trace of Omicron variant in line with the guidelines of the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health. Since we are the treatment centre, we will accept the positive patients for the treatment. We also made preparations for the potential Omicron variant surge.”
The centre was opened on September 4th, and over 600 COVID positive patients have been provided treatment so far.
In-charge Doctor, COVID-19 Treatment Centre (Thuwunna), Dr Naing Lin Tun said “At present, the centre has the capacity to accept 266 patients. Among them, 108 beds have accessed to oxygen if needed. We also have 10 HDU facility beds. The remaining 98 beds can be used as HDU facility when needed. We have the General Physician together with 9 doctors and 12 nurses. We are making ready for round the clock by dividing three groups.”
Those with mild symptoms for COVID-19 suspects can get free of charge RDT test every day from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the centre.
