COVID-19 Prevention: Chlorine Spraying And Sanitation In Sanpya Central Fish Market

Chlorine Spraying and Sanitation Project was carried out in Sanpya Central Fish Market for the prevention of COVID-19 disease on Sunday.

The project was carried out by the associations and people from the market, officials from the Western District Yangon City Development Committee and many other officials.

Health awareness programmes are also conducted in the market. Sanitation will be carried out once every two days in the market, an official from the Development Committee of the market said.

Joint Secretary, Sanpya Central Fish Market Development Committee, Thiha said “Our market is a central fish market – we not only distribute across the country but export to foreign markets also. So, we have to take care of our products – we have to ensure they are safe. This project is not only for prevention from COVID-19 disease but also other potential effects. We decided to continue the project.”

The project was started from the 11th of March as the first time and the second time was on the 15th of March. This is the 3rd time.

Chairman, COVID-19 Prevention Committee, Aung Myo Thant said “We held meetings with the people in the market to give awareness about COVID-19 disease like hand hygiene and other preventive measures. The nurses from the Ministry of Health and Sports also joined the meetings.”

This Chlorine Spraying and Sanitation Project will continue 2 or 3 days a week till the further notice from the Government and Ministry of Health and Sports.
