
The Ministry of Health and Sports issued a news release on monitoring of COVID-19 at 8:00 pm of 21st March.
It stated that the Ministry of Health and Sports has been conducting monitoring activities on the COVID-19 acute respiratory disease, which has spread throughout China and some countries around the world, at international entry-exit checkpoints, hospital-based, community-based and in cooperation with private hospitals. There have been 12 new patients for quarantine of the COVID-19 disease in Myanmar between 6 pm of 20th March and 6 pm of 21st March.
According to a report from the National Health Laboratory (NHL) (Yangon), out of the patients who are put in isolation wards, the lab results of 11 patients show negative.
As of 6:00 pm, 21st March, 11 patients under the surveillance are receiving medical treatment at the respective hospitals. Although there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Myanmar until 21st March, surveillance activities are actively in progress. COVID-19 is currently spread in 177 countries around the world including China and some neighbouring countries.
WHO recently declared that the virus is pandemic and the general public is advised to closely follow the healthcare guidelines published by the Ministry of Health and Sports.
