Court-Led Mediation: Elaboration Of The Court-Led Mediation Pilot Program Held

The elaboration of the Court-Led Mediation Pilot Program was held at International Convention Center-2, Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

At the ceremony, the Chief Justice of the Union U Htun Htun Oo, in his opening speech, stated that

The supreme court of the union initiated the Court-Led Mediation Pilot Program at two district courts and two township courts in 2019 in line with the strategic objective 5.3 of efficient and effective Court Dispute Resolution (CDR) systems in the judicial strategic plan (2018-2022). 

According to the results of the pilot program, as the program is considered to be implemented widely, it will be expanded to the courts of Pyinmana, Lewe, Zabuthiri, Pubbathiri, Ottarathiri and Dakkhinathiri townships in 2020.

By implementing it, it will facilitate to the preparations for the provisions of the necessary laws of court-led mediation settlement in the civil cases.  

After that, the Chief Representative of JICA Myanmar Office, Mr. Karasawa Masayuki, gave an opening remark saying that it’s pleasurable for having an opportunity to participate and help in the implementation of the court-led mediation pilot program by the supreme court of the union and the collaboration for the future will be continued.

Next, the Chairperson and members of Court-Led Mediation System Implementation work Committee explained the implementation of Court-Led Mediation Pilot Program from 1st March of 2019 to 29th February, 2020 and the member of committee clarified the review of Court-Led Mediation System implemented within one year.

Then, the chief justice of the supreme court of the union posed for the documentary group photo together with the guests. 

Also present at the event were the chairman of the constitutional tribunal, justices of the supreme court of the union, deputy attorney general, chairpersons of the parliament affairs committees, secretary of the union legal supporting group, chief justices of Bago and Mandalay regions high courts, parliament representatives, departmental heads, chief representative of JICA Myanmar office and officials of JICA’s judicial and legal projects and the invited guests.
