







A coordination meeting to ensure the successful organization of the film, performing arts, and music fundraising variety show for the reconstruction of areas devastated by the Mandalay earthquake, was held at the Film Promotion Division Meeting Hall of the Information and Public Relations Department in Bahan Township, Yangon, on the 5th of May.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Yangon Region Minister for Social Affairs U Htay Aung, Chairman of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization, Chairman of the Myanmar Music Association (Central), Chairman of the Myanmar Theatrical Association (Central), officials from film, music, and performing arts associations and invited guests.
The meeting began with a video presentation documenting the history of earthquakes in Myanmar, the impact of the Mandalay earthquake, and the ongoing rescue and relief efforts.
Next, the Union Minister emphasized that this is a critical time for clearance and reconstruction efforts in earthquake-affected areas. He urged artists to boost morale among affected citizens through their talents, as art has the power to inspire and uplift people despite hardships. A fundraising variety show combining film, music, and performing arts will be held at the National Theatre (Yangon) from May 10 to 12, from 5:30 PM to 10 PM each day. The event is not just about raising funds but also about demonstrating unity and solidarity among the artists. He called for collaboration to ensure the event’s success.
Yangon Region Minister U Htay Aung, Chairman of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization U Kyi Soe Tun, Chairman of the Myanmar Music Association (Central) U Lwin Myint, Chairman of the Myanmar Theatrical Association (Central) U Chit Myo Htaik, Secretary of the Organizing Work Committee U Chan Thar Kyi Soe, other attendees contributed ideas to ensure the show’s success.
