







The coordination meeting on the strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations from the 12 townships that implemented Phase (1) of the Multi-Party Democracy General Election was held on December 31 at the meeting hall of the Shan State Government Office in Taunggyi.
At the coordination meeting, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung stated that voter lists must be accurately managed, the public's verification of voter lists should be systematic and correct, and efforts should be made to ensure no deficiencies in the voting process for the upcoming Phase (2) election in 17 townships.
He emphasized the need to facilitate eligible voters in casting their votes smoothly and to systematically manage administrative aspects for a free and fair election, among other remarks.
Following this, representatives from the 12 townships that implemented Phase (1) of the election including Taunggyi, Loilen Namsan, Linkhay, Kengtung, Monghsat, Tachileik, Lashio, Muse, Naungcho, Hopong, and Pindaya discussed and presented their strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations.
Afterwards, District Administrators representing the 17 townships to implement Phase (2) of the election explained the status of election-related preparations. Attendees then engaged in general discussions, with Commander of East-Command Brigadier General Kyaw Naing Oo supplementing the discussions, and the East-Command Chief of Staff providing suggestions and discussions on polling station and security matters.
Subsequently, the Secretary of the Shan State Election Commission read out and explained the directives of the Union Election Commission. Then, the State Ministers and the State Government Secretary discussed the strengths and weaknesses identified in Phase (1) of the election.
Following this, the State Chief Minister coordinated and integrated necessary requirements regarding the implementation based on the suggestions and discussions presented, and delivered concluding remarks. The townships to implement Phase (2) of the election are Yatsauk, Kalaw, Lechar, Mongkai, Kunhing, Mawkmai, Mongpan, Monghkat, Mongping, Mongyan, Monghpyak, Mongyawng, Mongton, Tanyang, Mongyai, Hsiseng, and Ywangan, it is reported.
Furthermore, on the evening of December 30, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, along with the State Minister for Transport and relevant state, township-level department officials and responsible persons, inspected the road from the Shan State Hluttaw Office traffic light in Taunggyi to the Taungkyaunggyi road and the road to Ganaing Lake.
They examined the roadside pedestrian walkways and drainage systems, the completed status of the northern side of the road, and the completion status of Ganaing Lake beautification works. Necessary instructions were supplemented to the responsible officials, it is reported.
