Coordination meeting: MOI UM delivered an opening speech

Coordination Meeting (1/2025) of the Myanmar Libraries Development and Cooperation Committee was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon on June 10.

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, Chairman of the Committee, opened the meeting by conveying the State Prime Minister’s emphasis on the youth and the literary sector. He urged that efforts be made with momentum to instill reading habits in young people.

He also highlighted the importance of using various creative methods to encourage children to enjoy reading with enthusiasm and joy. He encouraged organizing reading circles or literary discussions involving children and local residents at community centers.

The Minister stressed the need to sustain long-term development of libraries and to energetically promote reading culture without losing momentum. Following that, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, serving as Secretary of the Committee representing the Deputy Minister, gave a presentation on the status of library construction in 2024, the committee’s structure, and its responsibilities.

Then, other members of the Committee discussed the events conducted to develop libraries and promote youth reading, plans for future activities, and the necessary requirements for success. To conclude, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn provided additional remarks in response to the discussions and delivered the closing address.
