

The Committee on Coordinating with Ethnic Armed Organizations on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 held a videoconference with the Restoration Council of Shan State on 16th June.
Representatives from the government’s side included committee Chairman and Peace Commission Chairman Dr Tin Myo Win, PC Vice-Chairman U Thein Zaw, committee Vice-Chairman and PC secretary Lt-Gen (retd) Khin Zaw Oo.
The RCSS were led by peace dialogue head Sao Bawng Kay. They made discussions based on the agreements made between the government and the 10 NCA-S EAOs on 8 May on handling COVID-19, returnees from abroad and migrant worker affairs, acquiring international aid, finding contact cases, and other general matters.
During the meeting, the RCSS discussed about taking body temperatures in about 30 areas, gauging the temperature of about 60,000 people including that area and possible cooperation with the government negotiation representative group.
And the RCSS agreed to the state level ceasefire in December 2011 and the Union level ceasefire in 2012 before signing the NCA in October 2015. He said they were negotiable and showed signs of better results for containing COVID-19.
