Coordination Meeting: MCRD UM delivere the opening remarks

On the afternoon of July 7, a coordination meeting for the implementation of rural development projects by the Department of Rural Development was held at Office No. 36-B, Department of Rural Development meeting room in Nay Pyi Taw.

Union Minister Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe attended and delivered the opening remarks. During his speech, the Union Minister emphasized that rural development initiatives must always prioritize the welfare of rural communities and focus on projects that directly benefit them.

He stressed the importance of close collaboration with local administrative bodies, local communities, and relevant departments, as these efforts cannot be undertaken by one group alone. He also highlighted the need to work with full dedication to improve the socio-economic lives of rural residents.

Furthermore, he recognized and commended all officials from the Department of Rural Development for successfully hosting the first-ever World Rural Development Day on July 6, 2025. Following this, Director-General of the Department of Rural Development U Thein Lwin, presented an overview of the regional development projects completed during the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the progress of regional development projects for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, and future plans.

Next, the Directors of the Department of Rural Development from various regions and states each presented their respective regional development achievements, the status of ongoing rural development projects for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, and their future plans.

Subsequently, Deputy Minister U Myint Soe discussed the operational requirements for rural development projects, livelihood-based small and medium enterprises, and sustainable rural development initiatives. After that, Permanent Secretary U Khant Zaw reviewed and discussed the presentations made by the region/state directors. Directors-General from related departments then discussed the current status of inter-departmental coordination and future plans for rural development in their respective sectors.

Finally, the Union Minister reportedly advised that funds should be systematically disbursed and utilized in accordance with the financial rules, regulations, and procedures established by the state. He also emphasized that funds should only be used for purposes that benefit the state and its people, and that project implementation should always be carried out with transparency.
