Coordination meeting: Fundraising working committee held a meeting

A coordination meeting regarding the acquisition of domestic and international assistance and support for the reconstruction of earthquake-affected areas was held on April 28 at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement.

Present at the meeting were the Chairman of the Fundraising and Fund Management Working Committee, Union Minister for the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement, Dr. Soe Win, Vice Chairman of the Committee including the Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance and the Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement, the Permanent Secretary, members of the working committee, Director Generals, and other responsible officials.

During the meeting, the Union Minister spoke about the current status of donations received for earthquake response and reconstruction, the plans for using those funds for reconstruction activities, and encouraged relevant departments and organizations to discuss ways to obtain both domestic and international assistance and support.

Following that, the Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance presented the status of budget allocations from the national budget for the 2025–2026 fiscal year, the state of assistance received domestically and internationally prior to 2021, and ongoing efforts to secure support in the current period.

Furthermore, the Director General of the Department of Disaster Management discussed the availability, usage, and remaining balance of the National Disaster Management Fund after the earthquake, the status of domestic and international aid received during past disasters, and participated in discussions on strategies for securing assistance moving forward, it’s learnt.
