The National Level Committee for the Resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Closure of Temporary IDP Camps held a coordination meeting on Thursday. Committee Chairman, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, emphasized ongoing negotiations with international organizations to secure humanitarian assistance for displaced individuals.

He urged all relevant officials to closely supervise the transportation and distribution of this aid. Vice Chairman of the Committee, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, provided an update on the provision of humanitarian assistance, conducting of vocational training courses, and the creation of a trust fund.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of IDP camp closures. From December 2023 to date, over 18,000 individuals from more than 4,000 households have been resettled in their native regions, resulting in the closure of 69 IDP camps.

Additionally, over 4.7 billion kyats worth of humanitarian aid—including food, utensils, cash assistance, relief items, and construction materials—has been distributed by the concerned ministries, regional and state governments, and various well-wishers.
