Union Minister for Health Prof. Dr. Thet Khaing Win attended a work coordination meeting at the Ministry on Friday to discuss efforts to achieve universal dental and oral health care by 2030. The meeting discussed expanding community-based oral health services, including school health programmes and care for the elderly, retirees and workers, under nationwide coverage.

The Union Minister highlighted oral health as a major non-communicable disease affecting about 45% of the global population and emphasized the need to strengthen district-level oral health services and health education. This was followed by the presentation on findings from the Second National Oral Health Survey (2022–2023), comparing with the first survey and reviewing ongoing ministry programmes. The attendees also provided the sector wise discussions on findings and the Union Minister provided necessary instructions based on the reports.
