






Myanmar’s first Nuclear Technology Information Center was opened at the center in Hlaing Township, Yangon on Monday. First, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min AungHlaingand the Director General of the ROSATOM State Corporations of the Russian Federation Mr. Alexey EvgenievichLikhachevformally opened the nuclear technology Information center.Then, the Prime Minister, the Director General of ROSATOM State Corporations of the Russian Federation and attendees viewed around the center and observed the educative booths to be used beneficially and peacefully nuclear energy in agriculture, health, electricity, energy and socio-economic development sectors and other multi-sectors.
It was followed by the opening ceremony of the nuclear technology Information center and the MTV on “Honorable Science and Technology”,the honorary song of the Ministry of Science and Technology was shown. At the event, Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister said that if looking back at the history of cooperation between the Russian Federation and Myanmar for the opening of the Nuclear Technology Information Center, it was stared at the signing of MoU between the Union Minister for Ministry of Science and Technology and the CEO of State Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM) of the Russian Federation on 18th June 2015 in St. Petersburg.
For developing nuclear technology in Myanmar, twoMoUs between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the ROSATOM have been signed for cooperation in the field of nuclear energy utilization, human resource development training and skill development and achieving positive visions of the people on nuclear energy at the Moscow in Russian Federation on 11th July 2022. The Prime Minister said that after opening the center, the activities on sharing the knowledge about nuclear technology will be continued in order to understand about nuclear energy by the public. In the center, not only young students but also university students will be able learn about nuclear energy and will be able to contribute a lot to human resource development. The Prime Minister added that during the 7th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) held in Vladivostok in September, the Ministry of Electricity, the Ministry of Science and Technology and "ROSATOM" also signed a roadmap for peaceful use of nuclear energy in 2023 and 2024.
An agreement on cooperation in 14 areas of nuclear technology field among the government will be signed. The experts from the two countries will discuss on establishing nuclear infrastructure of the state to apply nuclear and radiation technologies for health, agriculture, breeding, industry and environmental conservation sectors. They will also cooperate in analyzing nuclear disaster safety, security and emergency response activities in accordance with the 19 facts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Prime Minister expressed thanks to officials of Rosatomfor fulfilling the needs of Myanmar’s energy through cooperation and will strengthen further cooperation.
Later, the Director General of ROSATOM State Corporations gave a speech. Later, the Small Modular Reactor video file sent by the ROSATOM State Corporations of the Russian Federation presented in the commemoration of opening ceremony. After that, the Union Minister for Science and Technology presented commemorative items to the Prime Minister and the Director General of ROSATOM State Corporations in commemoration of opening the center. After the opening ceremony, the MOU was signed between the two sides and the Director General of ROSATOM State Corporations and the Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw signed MoU in presence of Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. By establishing nuclear technology information center, people and students will get knowledge on enabling to use peacefully nuclear energy in health, industrial development, energy and all round sectors for the development of the state.
