Community-Based Tourism: 8th CBT project opened in Shan State

Sagar Inn Community-Based Tourism (CBT) was opened with a ceremony in Sagar village in Nyaung Shwe Township of Shan State in the last week.

At the event, the Shan State Planning and Finance Minister and officials presented the acknowledgement certificates on the Community-Based Tourism of Shan State Tourism Committee and the CBT criteria book published by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism to officials from respective CBT villages. Sagar Inn Community-Based Tourism is a part of Economic Promotion of Inlay Communities through Enhancement of Cultural and Natural Heritage (EPIC) Project that is being implemented with the assistance of Italy.

The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and Italy based Institute for International Cooperation (ICEI) signed MOU for the project. The Sagar Inn Community Base Tourism is the 8th project in Shan State and Sagar, Kone Tha and Thayar Kone villages in Sagar Inn region implemented the project.
