Clarification on Renovation Works: MORAC UM coordinated and gave necessary instructions

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin discussed at the clarification on the current progress of restoration and renovation works being carried out on the main Uppadasanti Pagoda, pagoda platform, base levels of the pagoda, and the surrounding structures, which were damaged by the Mandalay earthquake, held at the temporary prayer hall on the ascend stairway at the east of the Uppadasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw, on May 15.

Following this, U Tun Tun, Chair of the Uppatasanti Pagoda Renovation Committee and Member (1) of the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee, presented updates on the use of machinery on the pagoda platform, the need for more equipment, and coordination efforts with the Military Engineering Department and Asia World Company to secure the necessary machinery for ongoing construction.

Next, the Rotating Chair of the Uppatasanti Pagoda Board of Trustees shared updates on operations carried out since April 25, 2025, involving 1,000 Tatmadaw personnel who have been daily engaged in lifting and gathering stone slabs.

He reported on the number of slabs already salvaged, ongoing construction of the temporary prayer hall, and other reconstruction activities. Chair of the Technical Advisory Subcommittee for the Uppatasanti Pagoda Renovation and Member (1) of the Nay Pyi Taw Council U Khin Maung Lat, presented progress on the construction of a 640-foot-long ascend stairway on the northeastern side of the platform.

He also raised concerns about the need for fuel for the machinery, which was then addressed through coordination by the Union Minister. The Union Minister and officials, subsequently inspected the 640-foot-long ascend stairway construction being carried out with equipment contributed by Asia World Company.

They also visited the restoration works on the main stupa, pagoda platform, base level of the pagoda, and compound structures of the Uppatasanti Pagoda. During the visit, the Union Minister provided guidance and instructions to address ongoing needs.
