China on Tuesday defended the recent raid of the offices of business consulting firm Capvision as “normal law enforcement.” Asked about the case at a daily news briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said the action was carried out “in accordance with Chinese law” and “aiming to promote the regulated and sound development of the industry and safeguard national security and development interests.”
At the briefing, Wang also briefed reporters about Foreign Minister Qin Gang’s visit to Pakistan last week, where he attended the fifth China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue. It was the first dialogue between the three ministers in two years, marking a “restart of the trilateral cooperation mechanism,” Wang said. China has played a role in the resumption of Saudi-Iran diplomatic ties.
