Chile began a mass vaccination campaign against COVID-19 Wednesday, just a few days after receiving four million doses of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine. In the first stage, adults aged over 90, health officials, students in clinical practice, staff and residents of nursing homes, and workers and residents of the public orphanages' network will be vaccinated.

By the end of March, Chilean government plans to have vaccinated over 100,000 people per day to reach the five million that represent the most vulnerable population. They also expect to inoculate more than 15 million of the 19 million inhabitants in the first six months of the year. Chile has registered 736,645 coronavirus cases and more than 18,576 deaths.
