Scores of passengers aboard a special chartered flight from Italy to the north Indian city of Amritsar tested positive for COVID-19 upon landing, according to local authorities.

A ruckus ensued outside the Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport on Thursday when 125 out of 179 passengers on the flight from Milan were not immediately let outside after officials told them they had tested positive for COVID-19.

According to an administrative official, the infected passengers were put into ambulances and taken to their respective home districts where were told to quarantine at a medical facility. Many passengers were angered by their brief detention at the airport, insisting that they had tested negative prior to their departure from Italy.
