





Central Committee on Prevention of Human Trafficking held its meeting 1/2024 at Areindama Hall of the Myanmar Police Force Headquarter in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.
During the meeting, member of the State Administration Council, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae in his capacity as Chairman of the Committee said according to the Policy Report on Casinos, Cyber Fraud, and Trafficking in Persons for Forced Criminality in Southeast Asia issued by United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), online and financial scams are raising in Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, Malaysia and Myanmar. He added that the government is putting efforts in combating online scams and repatriating the victims who are forced to commit the crime to their respective places.
Regarding the international cooperation, the Union Minister highlighted that Terms of Reference (TOR) on BIMSTEC Convention on Anti-trafficking in person and working plan among BIMSTEC member countries was finalized and approved.
The Union Minister stressed for acceleration of local and international cooperation in implementing the tasks. For providing the best services for victims of human trafficking, the national level working plan (2020) on repatriation, reintegration and rehabilitating has been drafted.
He called for collaborative efforts in providing necessary assistance to the victims as per the working plan. During the meeting, discussions on implementation processes of combating human trafficking were made.
The Union Minister concluded that human trafficking can be reduced through cooperation among local and international institutions, stressing the need for collaborative efforts among committee members to face the challenges in combating human trafficking.
