16th INNOPROM: Myanmar delegation tours in Russia

A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr. Charlie Than returned to Yangon on July 10 after attending the 16th INNOPROM International Industrial Exhibition in Yekaterinburg of Russia Federation.

During their visit, the delegation toured the 16th Industrial Expo on July 6th and inspected the industrial products displayed at the exhibition. Subsequently, they attended the exhibition's opening ceremony and met Russian Minister for Industry and Trade Mr. Anton Alikhanov to discuss technical assistance and human resource development for the No. 2 Steel Mill (Pangpet) project, supervision of the waste heat recovery power system, agro-based industries and MSME cooperation.

On July 7th, the Union Minister attended the “Russia-Indonesia Industrial Dialogue”, along with the ministers from other countries. Then, he met with Director of Skolkovo Technopark Ms. Olga Slominskaya to discuss issues related to bilateral cooperation for the development of MSMEs in Myanmar.

In the afternoon, they met with responsible persons from Tyazhpromexport (TPE) Company and discussed the technical and installation supervision for the operation of the waste heat power plant at No. (2) Steel Mill (Pangpet) and the work implementation status. Then, the Myanmar delegation toured the exhibitions displayed at the Industrial Expo.

On July 8th, the Union Minister met Sverdlovsk Region Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations Vyacheslav Yarin to discuss expanding bilateral trade, exports of Myanmar agricultural and light industrial products, mining, metallurgy, industrial engineering and medical equipment production.

The delegation also met with the responsible person from Sverdlovsk Oblast Entrepreneurship Support Fund to exchange experiences on MSME development, entrepreneurship education and economic reforms and held talks with Sistema Public Joint-Stock Financial Corporation on data centre technology and e-commerce cooperation to support Myanmar's MSMEs.The delegation later proceeded to Uralhimmash heavy machinery plant  to observe the production process.

On July 9th in Moscow, the delegation met with representatives of Tyazhpromexport (TPE), MISIS and Stalproket to discuss accelerating work on the No. 2 Steel Mill (Pangpet), including technology transfer, equipment installation, workforce training and commissioning.

The delegation also visited Skolkovo Technopark and observed Russia's innovation ecosystem, including information technology, biotechnology, renewable energy, medical devices, space technologies and startup support programmes. The Myanmar delegation departed Moscow on July 9 and arrived back in Yangon on July 10.
