Myanmar-Belarus Business Forum was held in Minsk on Thursday, with the attendance of President U Min Aung Hlaing. Belarus Prime Minister Alexander Turchin gave an opening speech, saying that the forum reflected the positive progress in relations between the two countries and highlighted the close ties between their leaders.

The Prime Minister called for greater investment and business cooperation, and stressed the importance of creating a supportive legal and financial environment for investors and improving transport and other infrastructure to promote stronger economic cooperation between Belarus and Myanmar. In his speech, President U Min Aung Hlaing said the changing global economy has increased the need for strategic economic partnerships and closer cooperation between businesses in both countries.

The President highlighted Myanmar’s strategic location between China, India, Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean, saying the country offers opportunities in agriculture, livestock, manufacturing, logistics and other sectors. He invited Belarusian businesses to invest in smart agriculture, food processing, agricultural machinery, dairy products, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, renewable energy, digital technology and logistics.

He also highlighted Myanmar’s three Special Economic Zones of Thilawa, Dawei and Kyaukphyu, as potential areas for investment. Thilawa was described as a strong option for export-oriented manufacturing, while opportunities in Dawei include heavy industry and machinery production.

President U Min Aung Hlaing said Myanmar’s membership in ASEAN and participation in regional trade arrangements, including RCEP, could provide Belarusian investors with access to Asian markets. Belarus, as a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), could also help connect Myanmar-made products to EAEU markets. He said Myanmar is ready to support Belarusian investors and called for long-term projects that could create mutual benefits, sustainable investment and shared development between the two countries. After the opening ceremony, the President and officials visited an exhibition featuring products from Myanmar.
