Buddhist Celebrations: Offering day meal to Sayadaws and members of the Sangha

A ceremony to offer day meal to the Sayadaws who graced the Maha Mingalar ceremonies, marking the Buddha Day which falls on the Kasone Full Moon Day was held at the Aggadhipati Sasana Beikman of Maravijaya Buddha Park in Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday.

The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Board of Patrons for Organizing Maha Mingalar Ceremonies to mark Full Moon Day of Kason- Buddha Day, Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife.

First, the Vice Senior General offered alms-food, fruits, flowers, water and candle light to the Buddha Image in the Aggadhipati Sasana Beikman. Then, the congregation led by the Vice Senior General observed the nine precepts administered by the Chairman of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, Presiding Sayadaw of Thanlyin Min Kyaung Pahtamapyan Sarthintaik, and took the Metta Paritta Sutta recited by members of the Sangha.

Next, the Vice Senior General, wife and officials donated the offertories to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha. After that, the congregation listened to the sermon delivered by the Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, Presiding Sayadaw of MasoeyeinTaikthit, and shared the merits gained.

Later, the Vice Senior General and wife and officials offered the day meal to the Sayadaws and members of Sangha.
