Buddha Pujaniya Festival: Kyauk Taw Gyi Buddha Image, Yangon Region

The 22nd Buddha Pujaniya Festival of Lawka Chantha Ahbaya Labha Muni Buddha Image (Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda) situated on Mindhamma Hill, Insein Township in Yangon is being held on a grand scale starting from 1st February.

Hla Thein, Member of Pagoda Board of Trustees said "Many well-wishers and departmental officials attended the consecration ceremony and the offering rice provisions to 18 members of Sanghas. Not only are the donors from Yangon Region but also from other regions and townships participating in festival by donating cash and offertories. The festival includes reciting religious verses by religious associations and charity feast to the pilgrims. "

It’s learnt that Myanmar seasonal traditional festivals and religious festivals are usually held at Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda annually including Buddha Pujaniya Festival. 

Tin Moe Aung, Chairman, Sasananuggaha Association said "It’s my 2nd time participating in Kyauk Taw Gyi Buddha Pujaniya Festival. I would like to encourage everyone to preserve our religion and culture by participating this kind of pagoda festivals and donating offertories."

The closing ceremony of Kyauk Taw Gyi Buddha Pujaniya Festival is being held on 5th February by celebrating alms-food offering completion ceremony, reciting religious verses and charity feast to the pilgrims.
