






A briefing on the plans related to the implementation of the Min Ye Thu Project to the Chief Minister of Taninthayi Region and members of the regional Government, presented by the representatives from Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) and Gulf Petroleum Myanmar Co., Ltd., was held Monday in the meeting hall of the Tanintharyi Region Government Office in Dawei.
At the clarification, Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Zaw Naing Oo stated that energy security is a crucial foundation for country’s long-term stability and economic development. He noted that the exploration and development of the country's oil and natural gas resources would not only strengthen the national energy sector but also support domestic industries through reliable energy services, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of local communities. He further emphasized that when oil drilling operations commence, proper attention must be given to waste management practices. He also pointed out that Taninthayi Region is rich in marine biodiversity and that special care must therefore be taken when carrying out project activities to minimize environmental impacts.
Subsequently, officials from Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise and Gulf Petroleum Myanmar Co., Ltd. presented updates on the project's current status, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process and findings, the various stages of implementation, and future work plans. Members of the region government provided additional comments and suggestions where necessary, and the Chief Minister coordinated discussions and arrangements regarding the project, it’s reported.
