Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win, along with officials, visited Urban Health Centers (UHCs) in Hlaing and Mingaladon Townships on Saturday. The visit aimed to assess the ongoing efforts to strengthen public healthcare services.
During the visit, the Union Minister met with health workers, reviewed the operations of the centers, and provided support for necessary improvements, including staff housing and medical supplies. He emphasized the efficient use of government-supplied medicines, enhanced health education for migrant communities, and increased outreach services such as maternal care, immunizations, chronic disease management, elderly care, and dental services.
The Union Minister also stressed bridging the healthcare gap between urban and rural areas and called for collaboration in dengue prevention through public awareness, sanitation efforts, and mosquito control measures.
The UHCs offer accessible basic healthcare and medicine without requiring patients to travel to hospitals. For more serious conditions, a referral system to public hospitals is in place. UHCs are also expected to continue follow-up care and ensure consistent medication supply for referred patients.
