In commemorating the 24th anniversary of East Yangon University and 76th Union Day, blood donation was held at the East Yangon University on 7th February.
Blood Donation was organized by the collaboration of the Yangon Region Red Cross Supervisory Committee and the branch of Red Cross Association of East Yangon University.
Rector, East Yangon University, Dr Nay Win Htun said "As university students, they should not only attend school but also participate in social affairs. Blood donation is a noble humanitarian act because of giving blood from our bodies. This is the first time after the COVID-19 pandemic, we resumed blood donation at our university."
Deputy rector, East Yangon University, Dr. Aye AyeKo said "There are positive impacts on the students by donating blood such as they will have practiced the spirits of teamwork and volunteering. Blood donation was conducted as part of the commemoration of 24th anniversary of East Yangon University and 76th Union Day."
Nearly 200 teachers, students and staff who are members of the Red Cross Association of East Yangon University participated in the blood donation campaign. At the event, The first time donors expressed their feelings upon donating bloods.
Student (1st year, IR), East Yangon University, Kaung Myat Win Zaw said "This is my first time experience of donating blood. Before the donation, I am afraid but after I did it, I am very pleased by the fact that I can save lives with my blood. I have decided to donate blood every four months."
Student (1st year, Law), East Yangon University, Ei Ei Chit Po said "I am a member of the Red Cross Association of East Yangon University. I learned how to tie a headband and hands. This is my first time donating blood so I feel a little bit excited. I will continue taking part in donating blood campaigns. "
With the support of the Yangon Region Red Cross Supervisory Committee, first aid courses, lectures about Red Cross society are being conducted, it is learnt.
