












President U Min Aung Hlaing met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung at the Government Office in Hanoi on Saturday. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung said the visit helps strengthen political trust and cooperation between the two countries and takes bilateral relations and shared interests to a new level.
He said Viet Nam understood the difficulties facing Myanmar and supported its efforts to promote stability, economic development, improve people’s living standards and strengthen regional and international relations. He reaffirmed Viet Nam’s commitment to developing the Viet Nam-Myanmar Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership.
He also expressed appreciation for the cooperation and mutual assistance between the two countries during the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters, as well as Myanmar’s support for Vietnamese businesses operating in Myanmar.
President U Min Aung Hlaing congratulated Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on his appointment as Prime Minister at the 16th National Assembly in April. He said bilateral relations have gained new momentum through renewed diplomatic engagement, high-level visits and the resumption of bilateral mechanisms, including the Joint Commission (JC) on cooperation.
The President said Myanmar’s government was prioritizing national stability and development, with a focus on infrastructure, agriculture and livestock, transport, roads and bridges, communications, education, healthcare and rural development.
He added that Myanmar will simplify procedures and regulations to encourage domestic and foreign investment and make it easier for businesses to operate. The President praised Viet Nam’s rapid economic development after nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi reforms and asked to share its experience in economic reform.
They later exchanged views on Myanmar’s current developments and ways to strengthen bilateral relations. They also discussed increasing cooperation between the two governments, parliaments and peoples, as well as in defence and security, trade, investment, agriculture, livestock, education, healthcare, social affairs, women’s affairs, culture, tourism, people-to-people exchanges and communications technology.
The discussion also included Myanmar’s intention to maintain balanced international relations and continue cooperation with regional partner countries, including Viet Nam, across political, economic and social sectors.
