The newly built KyoneHaw-YamaSeik Bridge in Paung Township of Mon State has been allowed for public commuting for convenient transportation.

Since the locals are facing difficulties in transportation due to inundation of the old bridge which was built in 2008-2009 fiscal year, the local authorities allowed permission for public use although the bridge needs to complete the finishing works.

Hluttaw Representative, Paung Township, Zaw Zaw Htoo said “Since the old bridge was inundated, the residents faced difficulties in travelling. So, we reported about the obstacles to the Chief Minister, and requested for using the new bridge. The Chief Minister came here to inspect the situation and gave permission for using the bridge.”

The new bridge was undertaken by Bridge Special Group (14) of the Bridge Department under the Ministry of Construction. The construction was started in March 2019. The bridge is of reinforced concrete type and it is 109.8 meter long and 7.34 meter wide. The estimated cost of construction is over 1.4 billion kyats

Hluttaw Representative, Paung Township, Zaw Zaw Htoo said “The construction for the bridge has been completed. It only remains to finish the approach road and electricity works.”

The bridge has been relied by over 30,000 people from five villages in Paung Township.
