Bayintnaung wholesale market: Bustling trading center with traders and buyers

As Bayintnaung market, located in Yangon Region, is the largest agricultural commodities trading market in the country, there are more than 1,000 commodity depots and it is also a main wholesale trading center for  basic food products such as rice, oil, salt, chilli pepper, onion, potato, fish paste, dried fish and various pulses and beans. The Bayintnaung wholesale market is bustling with trade activities in pre-Thingyan period and also normal operations are being resuming at present, post-Thingyan period.

Ye Myint said "Due to various reasons such as food donation and collection for household consumption during Thingyan, sale and demand were on the rise in pre-Thingyan period than previous year. At present, sale and demand gets back to normalcy. We are selling basic goods to the delta regions, Mawlamyaing, Hpa-An and nearby cities."

According to the statistics, as potato, basic food item is one of the main consumption for locals, demand rise at pre and post Thingyan period. Sale, demand and also productivity hit higher than previous years, it’s reported.

Chairman, YFCCI, Dr. Myo Lwin said "Domestic consumption of pulses and beans are on the rise and also the price of pulses and beans is slightly moved up. It is estimated that pulses and beans export volume will be continuously increasing in the coming pre-monsoon period: May, June and July."

There are more than 1,000 commodity depots in Bayintnaung market and is also a main wholesale trading center where edible oil, various pulses and beans, potato, onion, chilli pepper, fish paste, dried fish, fish sauce, dried prawn in addition to imported goods are being sold to local and oversea markets.
