Banking Issue: Paper Reading Session on Payment and Clearing

A paper reading session on payment and clearing of Myanmar Central Bank was held on Thursday afternoon.

This paper reading session at Assembly Hall of Myanmar Central Bank was attended by Myanmar Central Bank Governor U Than Nyein and many other officials and staff.

In his remarks, the Governor stressed such main tasks of the Myanmar Central Bank as implementation of monetary policy, decision and implementation of currency exchange policy, foreign currency notes control and management, financial institutions management, promotion of secured payment system.

He also stressed importance and benefits of national payment strategy. During the session, PhilPaSS or Philippine Payment and Settlement System which is the name of the RTGS payment system in the Philippines, link among members, risk management, comparison with the current payment at the Central Bank of Myanmar were discussed. Attendees also made suggestions and more discussions.
