Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife and officials inspected the renovation measures at Bagan Archaeological Zone that have been affected by a natural disaster on Sunday.
The Prime Minister and party first arrived at Ananda Temple and inspected the maintenance works being carried out inside and outside the precinct. After hearing the reports, the Prime Minister instructed the need for systematic maintenance tasks for sustainability and emphasized the importance of maintaining the original craftsmanship.
The Prime Minister and party later proceeded to Sulamani Temple, built by King Narapati Sithu. Due to heavy rain, the inundation has affected the temple compound. The Prime Minister oversaw the maintenance works at the temple and earthworks in the precinct.
He instructed the implementation of systematic measures for a proper drainage system to avoid a similar impact and emphasized carrying out the renovation works with special attention. Upon arrival at Htilo Minlo Temple, the Prime Minister and party inspected the renovation works for damages caused by a natural disaster inside and outside the precinct, including the upper terrace.
He instructed the implementation of systematic maintenance works and suggested considering granting visitors entry to the upper terrace of the temple with a limited number and time to enjoy the Bagan landscape.
During the inspection tour, the Prime Minister and wife offered cash donations for the all-round renovation of the temples. Due to heavy rain in May, floods occurred at the ancient pagodas and temples in Bagan Archaeological Zone, resulting in slight damage to eight of them.
Renovation works are underway without damaging the original craftsmanship of these ancient structures. In the evening, the Prime Minister and party visited the Maravijaya Buddha Image in the Buddha Park of Deckhina Thiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw.
He met with the officials at the Board of Trustees Office and instructed them to provide convenient arrangements for pilgrims from all parts of the country, ensure long-term maintenance of the religious facilities, and oversee cleaning works in the compound.
They then paid homage to the Buddha Image and offered flowers and water. Afterwards, they took a tour of the pagoda platform, repositories, and stone plaque cetis, cordially greeting the pilgrims along the way.
