Myanmar and Russia are seeking to further expand bilateral economic cooperation, with energy, trade, investment, infrastructure and technology among the key areas of potential collaboration.

The Russia-Myanmar Business Forum 2026 was held at the G.V. Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in Moscow on Wednesday. President U Min Aung Hlaing, who was in Russia on an official visit, attended the forum and delivered the opening remarks.

The forum served as a platform for discussions on strengthening bilateral trade, investment and business cooperation between Myanmar and Russia. Economic relations between the two countries have broadened in recent years, with cooperation extending beyond traditional areas into energy, infrastructure, agriculture, advanced technology and investment.

The two countries have been working through the Myanmar-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation to identify new areas for business and investment.
