





The opening ceremony of the “Awareness Training Workshop on the Exporting Guidelines and Requirements for Myanmar\s Agricultural Commodities to China to Support Trade Facilitation” conducted under the Project on the “Improvement of Agriculture Trade Facilitation to Encourage Supply Chain of Myanmar’s Agriculture Products in Collaboration with LMC Countries” which included in the Mekone-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund Projects, was held at the Horizon Lake View Resort in Nay Pyi Taw on January 21 with the attendance of Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung.
At the opening ceremony, the Union Minister delivered a speech stating that Myanmar is a member country of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and, like other member countries, Myanmar is following the guidelines and standards related to plant pest and disease control.
Implementing these standards is not only crucial for ensuring the safety and security of domestic food products but also plays a significant role in facilitating smoother and faster bilateral trade between the countries. Therefore, adhering to plant pest and disease control inspections and regulations will enhance Myanmar's credibility in the international community and strengthen trade relations. The Union Minister also expressed confidence that Myanmar-China bilateral trade processes would develop further, and by sharing knowledge and best trade practices with fewer barriers, trade relations between Myanmar and China would become even stronger.
Following this, Mr. Zhang Zhonghua, a representative from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar’s Naypyidaw branch, delivered a speech. Director-General of the Planning Department Dr. Thantar Kyi, presented an explanation on the key activities, progress, and future steps being undertaken by the project.
Over 100 participants including representatives from the departments of ministries, Universities, UMFCCI and affliated companies attended the knowledge-sharing event, it’s learnt.
