Awareness For COVID-19: Kachin State Conducts Preventive Measures

Kachin State is speeding up measures for COVID-19 disease prevention, control and treatment.

The Kachin State Social Affairs Minister said that they are conducting monitoring and awareness campaigns of the disease with participation of the people in the State.

Social Affairs Minister, Kachin State Government, Nay Win said “The medical surveillance tasks have being conducted border gates such as Kambaiti, Lwegel and other gate with various organizations after coordinating with the Health Department. For public awareness, 5000 pamphlets in Myanmar and ethnic languages are distributed and the Health Department also conducts educative talks at the IDP camps. We also carry out COVID awareness on setting up vinyls, sharing health knowledge and how to wash hands and wearing masks. We have suspended holding religious events and also close schools. People need to go in and out through the official gates. Only then, can we make monitoring tasks thoroughly. It is important that people need to follow the instructions.”

A local from Myitkyina said they participate in the response measures of the disease and live in line with the health instructions to prevent the disease. 

Resident, Tat Kone (Sanpya), Myitkyina, Magyi Lugyar said “As this disease is spreading around the world, the public awareness is being conducted every week in the Church. We take healthy food to prevent against the disease. We conduct preventive measures such as dress changing, washing hands and legs and taking a bath after coming back from outside.”

According to the Kachin State Social Affairs Minister, there are still needs to make awareness in some places of the State and it needs to have enough soaps, hand sanitizers and masks. There are no confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease in Kachin State till now.
