An inquiry into former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison secretly appointing himself to multiple ministries recommended on Friday that every appointment be made public to preserve trust in government.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in a news conference in Canberra he would recommend his Cabinet accept all of the recommendations at a meeting next week. Morrison cooperated with the inquiry through his lawyers but did not personally give evidence. Morrison, who is now an opposition lawmaker, said his actions were necessary because of the coronavirus pandemic.
