Riverine communities and scientists released around 1.500 Amazonian turtles at Jau National Park, located in the Anavilhanas archipelago on the Rio Negro in the Amazon rainforest, Amazonas state, Brazil.

It was a part of a program to assist the reproduction of the species. This conservation effort aimed to repopulate native turtle species in the Amazon rainforest ecosystem, addressing declines caused by overharvesting.
