Assistance for IDPs: Provisions for affected people from fire outbreak

Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, accompanied by officials on Sunday inspected the IDP Camp Management Committee office construction at HmhanSi intersection in Sittwe, and instructed the provision of necessary office equipment. They also addressed the arrangements for fire safety measures and other requirements through coordination with relevant departments and camp officials.

At the Say Thamar Gyi IDP camp, they reviewed the clean-up completion status after the fire outbreak, and coordinated the needs. They also observed the joint healthcare efforts of local Tatmadaw and State Public Health Department medical teams for fire victims.

They inspected the distribution of drinking water and purification tablets, the construction of temporary shelters and instructed for systematic relocation, clean water access and sanitation facilities. The fire at the IDP camp on May 2nd destroyed 18 dormitories, affecting 1,260 people from 180 households.

The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement provided rice worth 6.3 million kyats and 180 boxes of relief items worth over 19 million kyats. The Rakhine State Government supplied 180 Tents and 180 Jerry Cans, with ongoing efforts to provide temporary shelter.
