Argentina rules out retaliation after Brazil downgrades diplomatic ties

Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno on Wednesday announced that his country will not take retaliatory diplomatic action after Brazil downgraded its diplomatic ties to the chargé d'affaires level.

The diplomatic rift followed remarks made by Argentine President Javier Milei against Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in recent weeks. The Argentine Foreign Ministry issued a statement expressing regret, claiming Brazil chose to "continue isolating itself from the rest of the region for purely ideological reasons.
