Movie star Jason Momoa also known as "Aquaman" is pairing officially with the United Nations to become the UN advocate for life below water. The "Sustainable Goal 14" initiative aims at preserving and promoting a sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

Momoa appeared on a popular beach outside Lisbon, in Portugal on Sunday where youth from around the globe are gathering on the eve of the beginning of the UN Oceans Conference taking place in the country. He received the nature baton – a symbol of the ocean and climate change - from the UNSG's Special Envoy for the Ocean Peter Thomson which was later delivered some of the youth attendees. He was later joined by the Secretary General Antonio Guterres and also by Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
