







The ninth day of the second regular session of the third Amyotha Hluttaw was held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Amyotha Hluttaw meeting hall at the Hluttaw building in Nay Pyi Taw. Out of a total of 209 members of the National Assembly, 206 were in attendance.
During the session, the question-and-answer program was conducted. U Aung Hla Htwe, Amyotha Hluttaw representative No. (1), from Magway Region, raised questions regarding the current tax system, including revenue collection, whether the tax collection mechanism has sufficient technology and manpower, whether the state is receiving the tax revenue it should, and whether there are plans to increase state tax revenue.
U Khin Maung Win, Amyotha Hluttaw representative No. (1), from Magway Region, asked whether there were plans to permit village expansion land allocation to accommodate the increasing population in villages within Kyaukse Township, Kyaukse District, Mandalay Region. Three other questions were also raised.
Deputy Minister U Han Win Aung from the Ministry of Finance and Taxation, Deputy Minister Major General Min Thu from the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Deputy Minister U Thike Soe from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development provided the respective replies.
Following this, the Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw presented to the Hluttaw for approval the replacement appointment of a committee member in the Amyotha Hluttaw's International Relations Committee.
He also provided explanations regarding the formation of the Committee on Metals, Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation; the Committee on Construction, Industry, Electricity and Energy; and the Committee on Hotels, Tourism and Culture. After that, the designated representatives presented clarifications concerning the duties, powers, rights, and terms of office of the respective committees. Subsequently, the Speaker submitted to the Hluttaw the lists of chairpersons, secretaries, and members of the said committees for approval.
The Hluttaw gave its approval, and the Speaker announced the formation of the respective committees, along with the Hluttaw's confirmation of their duties, powers, rights, and terms of office. The ninth day of the second regular session of the third Amyotha Hluttaw was then adjourned. The tenth day of the session will continue on June 25, it’s reported.
