Airbus is advancing its next-generation single-aisle aircraft program with a targeted 2030 commercial launch and 2035 service entry, aiming for a 20% to 30% reduction in fuel consumption.

Unveiled on Tuesday at the Farnborough airshow, Airbus formed a joint venture with Germany’s MTU Aero Engines to build a European hydrogen engine manufacturer for future electric aircraft. It also aims to secure European technological leadership and counter massive global investments in hydrogen infrastructure.
