Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation: Dairy Products, Coffee Farm And Water Storage Works

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi, together with officials, inspected dairy cow breeding farms and dairy products manufacturing industries in PyinOoLwin Disctrict of Mandalay Region and NaungCho Township of Shan State (North) on January 22nd.

The Deputy Minister instructed for vaccination to prevent animal diseases, production of safe and quality products, providing technical assistance and making efforts to produce value-added products. The Deputy Minister later proceeded to PwayTaung Coffee Farm in PyinOoLwin and inspected the production of quality coffee seeds, conduction agriculture training and providing agriculture method.

They then arrived at Kandawgyi Lake and inspected the work implementation for naturally inflow of water to the lake, since it has less water inflow due to the draught in two consecutive years. The Deputy Minister stressed the needs to survey for storing more water and the condition of leakage of water through the embankment as well as to implement smooth inflow of rain water, and maintenance of water inflow canals.

The Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department is carrying out the renovation works at five water inflow canals, and the lake now reached over 20 ft depth which previously has 16 ft depth.
